Affordability for Everyday Life
Affordability in House District 42 is about more than housing costs — it’s about whether families can keep up with the everyday expenses of living, working, and raising a family in Aurora. Too many residents are being squeezed by rising costs in housing, transportation, childcare, healthcare, and utilities, with little room to get ahead.
As your legislator, I will focus on practical, people-first solutions that reduce financial pressure, strengthen household stability, and help families stay rooted in the communities they call home.
As Your Legislator, I Will:
-
Protect renters and homeowners from displacement by strengthening renter protections and preserving pathways to homeownership
-
Address the impact of corporate ownership in residential neighborhoods to promote fair housing markets and community stability
-
Reduce everyday costs by supporting utility affordability protections and consumer safeguards against excessive fees
-
Expand affordable transportation options so families aren’t forced to rely on multiple vehicles to get to work, school, or healthcare
-
Support workforce pathways, apprenticeships, and predictable scheduling to improve income stability
-
Expand access to affordable childcare and family supports for working parents
-
Lower healthcare and mental health costs by investing in prevention, community care, and crisis services
Affordability means security, stability, and opportunity. My goal is to ensure Aurora remains a place where working families, seniors, and young people can afford to live, work, and build a future — not just get by.
