Born and raised in Colorado. Rooted in Aurora. Dedicated to the people of House District 42. Sarah Woodson is the daughter of an African immigrant mother, and her story begins right here in Aurora. She attended elementary, middle, and high school in Aurora, graduating from Eaglecrest High School, where she first discovered her passion for leadership, advocacy, and community engagement. Growing up in Aurora taught Sarah the importance of resilience, responsibility, and showing up for her community — values that continue to guide her work today.
Aurora is not just where Sarah grew up — it’s where she built her life. She opened her first business in Aurora, invested in the local economy, and built relationships that continue to shape her commitment to this community. House District 42 is home.
Sarah earned an Associate of Applied Science degree and an ABA Paralegal Certificate from the Community College of Aurora, a Paralegal Certificate from ICDC College, and completed coursework in Sociology and Legal Studies at the University of Colorado Denver. Her academic focus on law, sociology, and community systems informs her practical, people-centered approach to leadership and policymaking.
Today, Sarah serves as Vice Chair of the Aurora Business Advisory Board, working alongside local business owners, city staff, and elected officials to strengthen Aurora’s economic environment. Her work centers on equitable growth, workforce opportunity, and ensuring that small businesses and families have a real voice in decisions that shape the city’s future.
Statewide, Sarah is recognized as a leader in equity, entrepreneurship, and public policy. She is the Founder and Executive Director of TCC, the largest cannabis social equity organization in Colorado. Through this work, she has helped pass major legislation, launch technical assistance programs, and support hundreds of entrepreneurs. Her impact extends nationally, contributing to equity-focused policy and program development in Illinois, Washington State, New Jersey, Chicago, and Detroit.
What drives Sarah is simple: House District 42 deserves leadership that shows up — every single day. As a mother of three adult children, a business owner, and a lifelong Aurora resident, she brings lived experience, professional expertise, and deep commitment to everything she does.
House District 42 is her home — and she’s ready to lead with accountability, accessibility, and integrity.
