Education
Strong Minds, Strong Futures
Expanding Social & Emotional Learning (SEL) and Strengthening Education Across Colorado
Every child in House District 42 deserves a strong emotional foundation and a real chance to thrive — in the classroom and in life. Social & Emotional Learning (SEL) teaches students how to manage their emotions, build healthy relationships, solve problems, and develop confidence and resilience.
For a district as vibrant and diverse as HD42, SEL is essential. When students feel emotionally supported, they learn better, behave better, and stay engaged in school. And when families know their children are gaining real-life skills, our entire community grows stronger.
As Your Legislator, I Will:
-
Champion legislation that expands Social & Emotional Learning in K–12 classrooms across Colorado
-
Advocate for funding and training so educators have the tools to support students’ emotional and academic growth
-
Support culturally responsive, community-informed SEL practices that reflect the diversity of our schools
-
Strengthen partnerships between schools, families, and youth-serving organizations
-
Ensure SEL is integrated in ways that improve student engagement, well-being, and long-term success
Education is the heartbeat of opportunity — and SEL is the pathway to a stronger, safer, more resilient future for our children.
